In June 2026, the three most reliable ways to use Paradox Rift are Mega Sceptile ex (Grass / spread pressure), Mega Altaria ex (sleep + Darkrai, powered up by Espeon) and Miraidon ex (Lightning burst with Magnezone). Not the only options — but the ones showing up most in ranked right after launch.

Paradox Rift: what to know before you build

Paradox Rift released on 28 May 2026 in Pokémon TCG Pocket. The set adds 74 cards around Paradox Pokémon and mostly strengthens existing archetypes rather than resetting the format. Most players slot one or two new pieces into a list they already own — Espeon for Altaria, extra trainers for Sceptile, or more consistency for Lightning.

  • Pocket format: 20-card decks, fast games, meta shifts quickly
  • Paradox Rift: 74 cards, Paradox focus and trainer support
  • You rarely need the full set: one strategic rare can unlock a tier list
  • Lists below are templates — tweak for your duplicates and local ranked

Deck 1 — Mega Sceptile ex: Grass spread and Helio finish

Mega Sceptile ex has been Pocket's Grass pillar since Palpitating Aura. Paradox Rift doesn't replace it — it adds support to speed up or stabilise. Spread damage across the opponent's bench, keep Trevenant as a closer, then Helio when the timing is right.

Sample list (20 cards)

  • Pokémon: Treecko ×2, Grovyle, Sceptile, Mega Sceptile ex, Trevenant, Teal Mask Ogerpon ex (optional)
  • Items: Super Potion, Speed Lightning, Growth Spray, Professor's Research ×2
  • Supporters: Erika, Helio, Copycat ×2, Forest Cape ×2, Fragrant Forest ×2

Common variants: drop Ogerpon if short on copies, skip Growth Spray for more draw, or run a second Mega Sceptile ex if crafted. Non-negotiable core: at least one Mega Sceptile, Trevenant and Fragrant Forest. In ranked, don't aim for one-turn wipes — spread, then Helio.

New to Pokémon TCG Pocket? Mega Sceptile ex forgives timing mistakes more than a pure Lightning combo deck.

Deck 2 — Mega Altaria ex: sleep, punish, close with Espeon

Mega Altaria ex has ruled Pocket since Mega Rising thanks to cheap attacks, solid HP and Swablu sleeping on entry. Paradox Rift adds Espeon (Eevee line): a one-energy attack that sleeps, same colour as Altaria. Darkrai finishes sleeping targets from the bench — still one of the format's strongest engines.

Sample list (20 cards)

  • Pokémon: Darkrai ×2, Eevee ×2, Espeon ×2, Mega Altaria ex ×2, Swablu ×2, Igglybuff ×2
  • Items: Poké Ball, Professor's Research ×2, Copycat, Training Area
  • Supporters: Morgana, Atalanta, Helio

Training Area boosts Mega Altaria ex and Espeon — craft it first if you're torn. Ideal pace: Swablu or Espeon early, sleep the active, follow with Darkrai or Mega Altaria by matchup. Versus fast Grass, hold Helio for a late prize swing.

Deck 3 — Miraidon ex: Lightning acceleration and burst

Miraidon ex uses Legendary Propulsion (recover all Energy in play) and Hadron Beam (+20 per Lightning attached). Magnezone adds Energy each turn; Fezandipiti adds flexibility. Paradox Rift doesn't change the deck's identity — it smooths match-ups where older lists lacked draw or recovery.

Sample list (20 cards)

  • Pokémon: Miraidon ex, Magnezone ×2, Magneton ×2, Magnemite ×2, Fezandipiti ×2
  • Items: Poké Ball ×2, Professor's Research ×2, Copycat, Giant Cape
  • Supporters: Professor Turo, Pokémon Center Lady, Atalanta, Helio, Lillie

Miraidon ex needs more piloting than Sceptile or Altaria — mis-sequencing Energy loses tempo. Get Magnezone online early, charge Miraidon, then find the turn where Hadron Beam takes two weakened targets. Giant Cape secures KOs on bulky ex.

Just pulled Espeon? Try Mega Altaria ex first. Mostly Grass from older sets? Mega Sceptile ex is the shortest path. Miraidon ex if you already crafted Magnezone from Scarlet & Violet sets or have solid Lightning pulls.

FAQ

When did Paradox Rift release in Pokémon TCG Pocket?

Paradox Rift (Propulsion Paradoxe in French) launched on 28 May 2026 in Pokémon TCG Pocket with 74 new cards focused on Paradox Pokémon and support for existing archetypes.

What is the best Paradox Rift deck in June 2026?

No single best deck: Mega Sceptile ex excels at Grass pressure, Mega Altaria ex leads sleep control (especially with Espeon), and Miraidon ex owns Lightning burst. Pick based on crafts and play style.

Must I open all of Paradox Rift to stay competitive?

No. Pocket often rewards one or two strategic cards (Espeon for Altaria, missing trainers for Sceptile) more than a complete set. Upgrade an archetype you already play from prior expansions.

Does Espeon really change Mega Altaria ex?

Yes — it's one of Paradox Rift's biggest meta upgrades: Espeon sleeps for one Energy, speeding sleep + Darkrai and synergising with Training Area. Not mandatory, but a clear power spike.

Miraidon ex or Magnezone alone?

Miraidon ex is the finisher; Magnezone is the Energy engine. Competitive lists run both. If starting Lightning, craft Magnezone first, then Miraidon ex.

Do these decks work in Pocket ranked?

Yes — they were ranked staples before Paradox Rift and got stronger. Expect counters (Grass vs Lightning, burst vs control). No sideboard in Pocket — swap 1–2 trainers between sessions instead.

Is there a physical TCG equivalent to Paradox Rift?

The name nods to Paradox sets in the physical Scarlet & Violet TCG. Pokémon TCG Pocket is separate (20 cards, simplified rules). If you love Paradox Pokémon, see our TCG Pocket → physical cards guide.
