Direct answer — Pick a card and a box from the same set: the calculator shows expected cost (box price × average boxes to open) from a per-booster slot model. This is a comparative estimate—not a guarantee or official The Pokémon Company rate.

Definition — Expected cost is box Amazon price times the average number of full boxes you'd open to get at least one copy of the card, given rarity and set model (Mega Evolution, Prismatic, etc.).
Do not confuse — This is not the secondary-market buy price for the single card, nor the exact packs you will open—it's a statistical average to compare sealed SKUs in the catalog.

Comment fonctionne ce calculateur ?

Ce calculateur utilise les probabilités de tirage estimées par rateTCG pour chaque rareté de carte (Rare, Double Rare, Ultra Rare, Illustration Rare Spéciale…) combinées au nombre de boosters inclus dans le coffret sélectionné.

La formule est simple : coût espéré = prix du coffret × (1 / pull rate par coffret). Si une carte a 1% de chance par booster et qu'un ETB contient 9 boosters, la probabilité par ETB est d'environ 9%. Il faudrait en moyenne 11 ETB pour l'obtenir.

Ces estimations sont indicatives. Elles permettent de comparer le coût d'ouverture vs l'achat direct de la carte sur des plateformes comme Cardmarket.

How does the calculator estimate cost?

It merges card rarity, a per-booster slot template for the expansion family (Mega Evolution, Prismatic, standard SV), and boosters in the selected box. Per-pack rate is scaled by an approximate count of cards at that rarity in the set, then converted to expected boxes.

Are results official?

No. rateTCG models magnitudes from card lists and community-observed booster structures. The Pokémon Company does not publish an equivalent public sheet. See the pull-rate methodology page for assumptions.

Why do two boxes from the same set differ?

Amazon price and booster count differ across ETB, bundles, Ultra Premium, etc. The tool recomputes expected cost per SKU—cheaper price-per-pack can lower modeled cost even when per-pack odds are identical.

Can I search English card names?

Yes—the search hits the Pokémon TCG API (often English names). Then pick a catalog box sharing the card's expansion. If no product appears, the set may not be in the partner Amazon shelf yet.

What if cost shows > €10,000?

The card is extremely rare under the applied model (e.g. some SIR in Prismatic structures). The cap keeps output readable—compare boxes on the same set or consider buying the single outright.
