Common questions

How do I search for a Pokémon card here?

Type its name in the search bar, optionally add a rarity filter (ex, V, illustration rare…) or limit to a catalog expansion. Results update live. Click a card to see Amazon boxes from the same set and pull expectation.

What does “expected copies per box” mean?

Average times you’d expect this card when opening every pack in the box. ≈1/45 means: open 45 identical boxes, you’d get it about once on average. A larger number means the card is more common in the rateTCG model.

Why does my card show no linked boxes?

The catalog mostly covers recent ETBs and booster bundles (Mega Evolution, Prismatic Evolutions…). Older expansions or promos not in the catalog won’t show products — we add sets over time.

Should I search in French or English?

Search works best with English names as printed on cards. We show a French name when it’s a well-known Pokémon. If nothing appears, try English (e.g. “Charizard”).

What are the rarity and set filters for?

They narrow results when the name alone returns too many hits. Pick a set if you know the expansion; pick a rarity if you want a specific version (ex, illustration rare). Remove one filter at a time if the list is empty.

How is this different from the Pokémon home page?

Home mixes trending, product shelf and quick search. This page is for deep sessions: pagination, filters, a longer trending catalog. Same API, same pull logic — switch between them freely.

Are the pull rates shown official?

No. The Pokémon Company doesn’t publish a public per-rarity grid. rateTCG computes expectations from typical booster structure and cards listed on the community pokemontcg.io API — magnitudes to compare boxes, not a promise for your next pack.

I want to open packs for one card — where do I start?

Search the card, open its page, see which boxes share its expansion and compare expectation per product. Then the pull calculator or Statistics page helps budget for an ultra rare.

How do I compare two boxes for the same card?

On the card page, each box shows its expectation for that card. Cross-check price per pack (price ÷ pack count) on ETB or Boosters pages. More packs mechanically lift expectation, but not always at the best €/pack.
